Open Habit Support
Open Habit is a free, non-commercial, open-source project. If something is not working, you can reach a real person directly.
Quick checks
iCloud is not synchronizing
Personal tracking continues offline. Confirm that the device is signed in to the expected Apple Account and that iCloud is available, then allow time for changes to synchronize. Settings in Open Habit shows the current iCloud status.
A widget is not updating
Open Open Habit once, confirm that the Habit is active, and try the widget again. If needed, remove and add the widget through the Home Screen widget editor.
A Shared Habit invitation will not open
Creating and accepting invitations requires iOS or iPadOS 18 or later, an Apple Account, and iCloud. Invitations are private and single-use.
I need to correct a day
Open the Habit, choose its calendar, select the date, and adjust the Completion count or Day Note.
Your data
Settings provides JSON export and restore, supported HabitKit version 2 import, local recovery backups, and Delete All Data. iCloud synchronizes current state—including edits and deletions—so export JSON when you want a backup file you control.
Bug reports and source code
For reproducible bugs and feature ideas, use GitHub Issues. The complete source is available in the Open Habit repository under the MIT license.
For a suspected security issue or accidental credential exposure, email contact@getopenhabit.com instead of opening a public issue.
Compatibility
Open Habit 1.0 supports iPhone and iPad on iOS and iPadOS 17 or later. Shared Habit invitations require version 18 or later. There is currently no Android, Apple Watch, Mac, or web app.
